Open Works: Design Week program by HOLOGRAPHIK

In September 2025, Holographik Space launched the first edition of Open Works, a 7-day cultural program hosted at our venue at Ulica Franje Petračića 6, during Zagreb Design Week. As an official partner location, we prepared and produced a vibrant, multi-format program that brought together leading names from the worlds of design, architecture, and music, all under one roof.

Across seven days, Open Works offered a dynamic mix of talks, design reviews, documentary screenings, exhibitions, DJ sets, free photostudio sessions, coworking, pop-up showcases, and plenty of spontaneous hangouts.

It was open to all, free, and grounded in one simple idea: to create a space where creative work can be shared openly, honestly, and in context.

But Open Works is more than an event. It’s a vision, one we’ve been building toward since the earliest days of Holographik Space.

A Platform, Not Just a Program

Since opening its doors, Holographik Space has consistently hosted independent cultural programming, from talks and screenings to performances and exhibitions. These efforts have been fully self-financed, sustained through the other arms of our project: HOLOGRAPHIK Studio, bar service, and venue rentals.

With Open Works, we took a significant step forward in shaping our cultural direction, creating a dedicated, week-long program with a clear structure, name, and visual identity. While part of our ongoing cultural activities at Holographik Space, Open Works allowed us to explore what a more structured, scalable format could look like.

We didn’t want to just host another event. We wanted to lay the groundwork for something bigger, lasting, and self-aware, a program that could evolve with our community, and one day grow beyond our region.

Built With Purpose, Curated With Intention

Open Works took place from 15.- 21.09.2025, and every day brought something different.

We invited some of the region’s most respected creatives to open their work and practice to the public. Among the featured guests were: Studio Size, Studio Sonda, Marina Mesar (OKO), Šesnić&Turković, Clinica Studio, Regular Company, Grupa Studio, Imeldy, Fran Mubrin (404/MYTY), FUTURE FOLKLORE, Vlatka Leskovar (Studio Boir), and our own HOLOGRAPHIK studio.

Their sessions covered everything from graphic and digital design to architectural projects, product development, and visual storytelling, offering a rare behind-the-scenes look into how creative work happens in real life with all its complexity, compromise, and creative drive.

Beyond the talks, the program included:

  • 1-on-1 design reviews (projects and portfolios) led by Holographik Studio’s team
  • Free photostudio sessions open to the public
  • Screenings of documentaries about design, art, and subcultures
  • A curated pop-up store featuring Type01 Magazine, HW capsule objects, Open Works merch, and limited edition pieces
  • Live DJ sets and evening sessions that created space for conversation and connection
  • Coworking zones where guests could work, talk, and collaborate throughout the week

All of it was designed to be inclusive, accessible, and inspiring.

Identity and Execution by HOLOGRAPHIK

To give the program a unique and recognizable presence, we developed a complete visual identity, designed and executed by HOLOGRAPHIK, our digital design and motion team.

With high production demands and tight timelines, the identity had to be clear, expressive, and scalable. We created a typographic framework that worked across formats, from posters and environmental graphics to merchandise and digital content. The result was a flexible system that served both functional communication and cultural expression, and is built to evolve for future editions.

Importantly, all aspects of Open Works were produced in-house, including:

  • Program concept, structure, and curation
  • Speaker and guest coordination
  • Visual identity and graphic assets
  • Space setup and environmental design
  • Photo, video, and daily documentation
  • Social media, newsletter, and PR communication
  • Guest hospitality, logistics, and community management

This was a program with a clear head and strong backbone, not just an event, but a strategic investment into the cultural scene of the city.

What’s next?

Open Works was never meant to be a one-time thing.

We’re already planning future editions and exploring collaborations, both local and international.

With the right support, we’re ready to expand this platform, establish a more consistent calendar, invite international guests, and open up new formats that blend education, experimentation, and community.

If you share our belief that cities are shaped not just by architecture and policy, but by ideas, people, and shared cultural moments, we’d love to talk.

We are open to partnerships, collaborations, and creative support that can help us keep growing Open Works and in doing so, contribute to a stronger, bolder, more connected cultural scene in Zagreb.
