Holographik Space layout
About:

Holographik Space is 180 m² in Trešnjevka, Zagreb. Specialty coffee through the day, cocktails from five, and a space that gets emptied and rebuilt for exhibitions, dinners, concerts and shoots. You do not need a reason to come in. Most days it is a café you can sit in with a laptop. Some evenings it is something else, and the whole floor can be booked.

Under one roof: the coffee and cocktail counter, the showroom that becomes the main floor, a meeting room, a fitting room, a separate photo studio and a terrace. Fifty seats inside, fifty outside, a hundred and more standing once the room is cleared. Brands, designers and musicians have all had it for a night. What they book is not an empty hall but a working space with its own counter, a production team and a programme already running through it.

The place changes once a day, at five. Before that it runs on specialty coffee: tables, laptops, our own beans brewed at the counter and bagged on the shelf to take home. After that the laptops close, the cocktail list comes out and the afterwork programme starts, every day of the week, with our own DJ on Friday and Saturday nights.

Then there are the nights that are not on any schedule. An exhibition, a listening session, a private dinner, a brand presentation, a concert. The walls, the rails and the lighting all move in a few hours, so the same floor holds a seated dinner one evening and a hundred people standing the next night.

Coming in

Our space is open every day.

Mon – Thu8–22

Fri8–24

Sat9–24

Sun10–18

Specialty coffee picked by our own coffee team, brewed on the bar, and bags of it to take home. Fifty seats inside, fifty more on the terrace. No booking, no minimum, no membership. Laptops are welcome until five.

The bar at night

At five the space turns. A full cocktail service, with a list our bar team builds around design rather than around trends: a section named after decades, drinks called De Stijl, Pear Deco, 1926.

What survives the season moves to the Hall of Fame, and there is a new special every month. Afterwork runs every day, with a DJ on Friday and Saturday. Most nights there is just the bar, which is also the point.

Booking the room

The space can be booked in two ways.

1The whole space:

180 m² inside and 100 m² of terrace, with the bar running and our production team on it. Fifty seated, a hundred and more standing, depending on the format.

2Our showroom zone:

Sliding partitions close the zone off from the bar, which keeps running next to you. Up to fifty guests, on its own.

Where a project asks for it, the setup, the offer and the drink recipes are built for that night alone. Production, sound and light are ours; catering comes through partners.

Quiet on purpose: concrete, steel and sheer curtains, with the attention in the details. Through the day the room runs on natural light.

Holographik Space grew out of Holographik, a design studio working in design and motion graphics. Two companies, different people, often the same table. That is the short answer to why the coffee, the bar and the programme are all designed rather than assembled. We work with artists, designers and people who arrive with an idea and no obvious place to put it. Our part is the rest — the room, the production, the bar, the people who know how to run a night. We are the space that lets things happen.

Nothing here is settled on the first attempt. The layout, the light, the sound and the recipes get rebuilt until they say what they are meant to say. It is why the cocktail list reads like a design history, and why a drinks menu has a Hall of Fame. Zagreb has the talent and the audience for a cultural programme that takes design seriously. We intend to keep raising what a room like this is expected to do, one programme at a time.
